Location Data
We collect location data in the following ways:
• City and state — provided by you during signup or profile editing
• Geographic coordinates — we convert your city and state to approximate latitude and longitude using Google Geocoding API. These coordinates are stored on your profile and used to provide location-relevant search results. We do not track your real-time GPS or device location at any time.
• Shop coordinates — when a Professional selects their shop via our search feature, the business address and coordinates from Google Places are stored
Search & Usage Data
• Search queries entered into the professional search feature are logged to improve search relevance. Logged queries include the text entered and parsed filters (tags, location, pro type). Queries are not permanently linked to individual user identities in analytics reports.
• Anonymous usage events are collected via PostHog analytics to understand how features are used
Technical Data
• Error logs via Sentry (includes device type, browser, and stack traces)
• IP addresses used for rate limiting only — not stored long-term

5. Data Ownership
Customers own their Clip Cards. Your hair history, photos, tags, and color records belong to you. Professionals can contribute to your card during a service, but you control whether it is published or shared.
Professionals own their Clipfolio. Your portfolio, featured work, and profile data belong to your account. Clip Card does not claim ownership of your work.
6. Data Sharing Between Users
• Professionals can view hair history and card data of clients who have linked their card to that Professional
• Published cards are publicly visible on Clipwork
• Professional profiles and Clipfolios are publicly accessible
• Customer names are never displayed on public-facing pages — only the Professional is credited
• Professionals cannot publish a customer's card without the customer's own action
7. Data Retention
• Your account data is retained as long as your account is active
• Deleted accounts are removed from our systems within 30 days
• Search query logs are retained for up to 12 months for product improvement purposes
• Error logs are retained for 90 days
8. Your Rights
You have the right to:
• Access your data — view everything stored about you in your account
• Correct your data — update your profile at any time in Settings
• Delete your data — delete your account from Settings, which removes your data within 30 days
• Export your data — contact us at support@clipcard.hair to request a data export
9. Children's Privacy
Clip Card is not intended for users under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us at support@clipcard.hair and we will remove it.
10. Security
We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, row-level security on our database, and rate limiting on all API endpoints. No system is perfectly secure — if you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.
